A. Personal Statement
My expertise as a community member actively engaged in scientific research and as a clergy member well suits me for the position of community consultant on the proposed grant entitled, “Community-Driven Implementation of Stigma Interventions in African American Faith Communities.”
My passions are HIV education, scientific research, and community engagement. I am a lifelong resident of the Cary/Raleigh, North Carolina area. I am an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a certified interim minister. I previously served as an On-Call Chaplain at WakeMed, Wake Med Cary, and WakeMed North Hospitals, and retired in 2022 after 20 years of volunteer service. I currently serve as a Police Chaplain with the Raleigh Police Department focusing on the LGBTQIA Community. I am also a member of the Catawba Clergy Cohort and the HIV Faith Ambassadors, a cohort of Black faith leaders/communities and Black medical providers who collaborate for an anti-stigma HIV campaign, effectively disseminate HIV education, encourage early diagnoses, and link African American populations in North Carolina to care. I am also a Charter Member of The Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ and The Eastern North Carolina Association of the United Church of Christ boards.
